Samantha Boardley

Samantha Boardley is an associate with IISD’s Resilience team. She is a climate change adaptation and development specialist with over 20 years of experience in climate change risk, vulnerability, and adaptation assessment. She has advised and trained global development partners (including governments, multilateral development banks, and civil society) on how to better plan, measure, learn from, and ultimately scale, climate-resilient development results. Her previous work has included the design and review of climate change adaptation plans and planning tools (including various vulnerability and risk assessment methodologies); the design of monitoring and evaluation systems for gender-just climate change and resilience programs; and the facilitation of workshops, forums, focus groups, and other participatory processes when planning for gender-responsive and socially inclusive climate action. A skilled trainer, Samantha has designed and delivered over a dozen different training courses on environment and climate change.

Samantha has both led and supported a number of international climate change adaptation projects in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. She has advised a variety of development partners on climate change adaptation, including the World Bank, African Development Bank, the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience, UNDP, and Global Affairs Canada, as well as a number of national and international non-governmental organizations.

Fluent in English and proficient in French, Samantha holds an M.Sc. (distinction) in water resource management and international development from the University of Oxford. She is based in Prince Edward County, Canada.
